Forget Rainy Nights in Georgia, its raining inJacksonville
Mood:  blue
Now Playing: wines, adult beverages
Topic: Chardonnay anyone

The winter season brings with it wintry citrus fruits like grapefruit, oranges and such, so now is the time to try a citrus tasting Chardonnay from the country of Chile.

Take a bow: Santa Rita Vineyards from Chile and you star is the refreshing Chardonnay.

For all the lovers of a glass of grapefruit and orange juice in the morning or anytime of day give your palette this delight.  This wine's aroma is sweetness; the flavors that perked up my tongue were grapefruit, strawberry, green apple and a mild oaky taste.  The residuals linger after you sip.

Think of it this way some people enjoy dessert first so before you eat your meal enjoy a glass of Santa Rita Chardonnay first.

Strong Appeal
Mood:  on fire
Now Playing: Adult beverages and Wines
Topic: Wine for the strong

For all you lovers of coffee served black.  I recently had the pleasure of tasting wine from the Bogle Vineyards Winery out of the Delta region of California.  This wine set my tongue on fire, like a cup of strong black coffee in the morning making its first impression forceful but oh so delightful.  I thought maybe I couldn't handle it but after opening the bottle, pouring a sample and swishing it around in the full glass to allow the strong aroma to escape.  It was time to discover all the flavors of dark berries, dark chocolate and anything with intensity like smooth black, coffee.

For me the pairing was simple it could stand alone or be served with braised short ribs cooked in a slow cooker that’s been simmering in flavorful spice and juices all day and served just in time for dinner.  Adding steamed vegetables and a pilaf rice to complete the meal.

On a scale of 1 to 5 glasses I will give this a 3 1/5 rating give it a try at your local wine and spirits.  Also you can let the winery know how much you enjoy this selection by emailing them at info@boglewinery.com put attn: Ken.

Sweet like tea but oh so lite
Mood:  party time!
Topic: The first time

Well its the weekend and our first official review of a wine.  The wine I enjoyed is priced reasonable and is sweet like southern tea but oh so lite.

The wine I'm referring to by the Meredian Vineyards out of California's Central Coast region.  The wine I enjoy is their Chardonnay, give it a try.

Blue Collar Wine Review Blog

This blog is about wine for the everyday Joe or Jane, who work hard and play hard and lives life without the fuss.** Please drink responsibly and always, always have a designated driver.

The basic rules for my wine review are as follows:

  1. Choose your wine taste based on your non-alcoholic beverages.
  2. Examples of your taste in basic coffee such as, black, with cream, cream and sugar and the additional add ones for coffee such as lattes’ flavored French vanillas and etc…. Will be explained later on.
  3. You might be a tea drinker and avoid coffee all together and prefer tea, without sugar, with honey, with lemon, with milk or be a health conscience tea drinker and enjoy green tea with a variety of flavors or alone.
  4. Your taste might be diet Coke for your morning beverage and you enjoy the early carbonation and fizz.
  5. You also might enjoy orange juice, apple juice, grape juice, fruit juice, grapefruit juice, tomato juice and pineapple juice.
  6. Your taste might bring you to fresh or from concentrate lemonade.
  7. Your beverage of choice in taste and for health reasons might be H2O.
